In partnership with the Colorado Avalanche, Everfi has released a powerful new tool to engage students in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics learning. This new tool is entirely free and web-based so it can be used on any device. It involves incredible interactions with the game of hockey from the engineering of skates to the area of the ice to finding angles of puck passes. It's also perfect for second language learners as it has great audio directions to accompany the text. If you are interested in using the great new tool to enhance student learning, check out the additional information below.
To get started with this great tool click HERE for instructions. You'll be able to create a free teacher account and select your school. Once you have created a free teacher account you can create classes and invite students with a simple class code. Your students will automatically be entered into the class once they enter the code and they can begin engaging with learning through hockey. As a teacher you'll receive reports on their progress enabling you to access incredible data to make instructional decisions or report on student progress.
Finally, if students aren't engaged by the activities and learning, the ultimate goal is to win the Stanley Cup. If students complete the modules with 80% or better proficiency, they'll be awarded lord Stanley's Cup as their prize. It's an excellent motivator for students of all ages. Although the program is designed for students in grades 4-7, it could very easily span grades 3-9 especially when it comes to the concepts of area and angle measurement. Take advantage of this tool with your students and if you have questions, contact your EdTech coach.
